The Maternal Addiction Recovery Center (MARC) is a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for pregnant and early postpartum women located at Marshall Obstetrics and Gynecology and operated in partnership with Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Marshall Psychiatry.  MAT is an essential component of a comprehensive approach to combating the opioid epidemic. Patients receive optimal obstetrical care under the direction of our maternal-fetal medicine specialists while participating in an opiate addiction maintenance program that uses buprenorphine (e.g. Subutex®).

At MARC, we strive to support our patients in maintaining healthy pregnancies with minimal complications. In addition to medication management, we provide individual and group psychotherapy. We work with patients at their current level of motivation and increase motivation for change by presenting psycho-education about substance use, recovery, and community resources for mothers in recovery and their children.
