Old Business:

NRHA Dual Membership Update

Sandra talked with Angela Broderick who stressed that this is a promotional deal and they are interested in targeting new members who are not currently members of NRHA and WVRHA. We would need to supply NRHA with a mailing list. After discussion, the board decided not to pursue this offer.

Membership information/forms will be distributed at the community forums.

Special TA Grant Application

Patti Crawford emailed Amy Elizondo about our application. It has not been reviewed yet.

Board Member Contacts w/ State Assns

Board members are distributing forum flyers to various groups, as listed in last month’s notes.

In addition, Alicia Tyler will disseminate to school-based health centers and the WV Health Care Association (nursing homes). April Vestal will send personal invitations to legislators.

New Business:

WVRHA Community Forum Fundraising

And

Update on Rural Community Health Forums

Sally Richardson reported that the following funds are either committed or in process:

* $4,000 from WVRHA

* $2,900 from a NRHA TA grant

* $2,690 pending NRHA TA grant

* $2,000 or more from PCA

* $2,000 from Higher Ed Policy Commission/RHEP/AHEC

* Lew Holloway will contribute $5,000 from Northern RHEC.

* requested donations from Health Care Authority and Behavioral Health Association

We need a total of $15,000-16,000 (depending on recording costs) and have $14,000 already. Phil is working on donations from Preston and Wood counties.

Sally will send information to board members for them to make forum introductions. The biggest issue is recording arrangements at the forum sites. We will rent PZN recording equipment for approximately $100 each site. (Refer to Beane/Crawford email.)

The board discussed whether forums would be conducted annually. It may be appropriate to have some type of forum or themed educational activities. It is important that results be reported back to communities.

Patti reported that 30 persons are registered for the Beckley forum, representing a wide variety of constituencies.

Silent Auction at WVRH Conference

Phil Schenk requested that board members each distribute the flyer and secure 2-3 donated items. Jeff Graham will assist with staffing and storage of auction items. The board discussed the possibility of purchasing items for the auction (e.g., golf packages, umbrellas). Phil will send information to board members on popular items from last year’s auction. The flyer will be updated to specify that proceeds will be used for educational activities and suggested donations.

Motion to allow the committee to negotiate/purchase up to $500 for auction items with proceed monies returned to the association
