Call to Order	Sara Jane Gainor ca= lled the meeting to order at 10:10 am.
Roll Call	Elaine Bowen called= roll. There were nine members and one guest in attendance.
Minutes	Minutes of the 7-24= -06 meeting were presented for approval.	Minutes were approv= ed. (Sotak/Richardson)
Treasurer’s Report=	Sharon Giles presented the report. There = was a balance of $19,212.63. Several bills have been received (e.g., conference flyer, WV taxes, and P.O.Box rental) and one new individu= al membership was received. The ending balance is $18,400.63. WVRHA financial records will be delivered= to the WV Primary Care Association. Sharon Giles will set up a conference cal= l meeting with the Finance Committee.	Treasurer’s R= eport was approved. Old Business:
Rural Health Confer= ence	· &nbs= p; Sandra Pope brought up the issue of a conferen= ce exhibit. Last year we paid $1,350 for sponsorship (1/4 page ad) and an exhibit. The cost has increased. Sandra will contact the conference commi= ttee and negotiate the cost of an exhibit and an ad for up to $1,500. She will= let us know. · &nbs= p; Volunteers are needed to work on an ad and sta= ff the exhibit. Dave Sotak and Sara Jane Gainor volunteered to help. =	Motion authorized Sandra Pope to negotiate the WVRHA sponsorship details and cos= ts, up to $1,500. (Richardson/C= rawford)
Rural Health Forums=	Dave Sotak reported the expanded Policy C= ommittee met 8/18/06. There will be 3-5 community forums around the state. Ph= il Schenk sent a notice about this to interested partners and stakeholders. Sa= lly Richardson is developing a budget. They are looking for organization= s to support forum costs. The next meeting is 9/19 from 10am-3pm. B= e sure to RSVP to Phil Schenk.
New Business:
Board & Officer vacancies	Al Michaels is taking the CEO position at= Putnam General Hosp= ital and has resigned from the WVRHA Board (he was President-Elect.) Henry Taylor has resigned also. Sara Jane Gainor asked April Vestal to wo= rk with the Nominating Committee on officer recommendations to present = at the 9-25-06 board meeting. Patricia Crawford clarified that, accordi= ng to WVRHA bylaws, there is no time requirement for how long a member has to se= rve on the board before they are elected to an office. The immediate Past President chairs the Nominating Committee (April Vestal) and has six members. Note that Patricia Crawford and Sister Rebecca Fidler volunteered at the last meeting to be on the Nominating Committee. <= o:p>

SHEC	April Vestal talked= with Valerie Frey-McClung, the 2007 State Health Education Council Conference Chair. The board discussed ways WVRHA may support SHEC (e.g., offer a con= ference track or speaker, report on the forums, and promote participation.)<= /o:p>
Future meeting	Next meeting will be September 25, 2006 at 10 am in Braxton Learning Center. Members may connect by conference call if needed.
